Hotel Marcel Gelendzhik

In the center of Gelendzhik, 200 meters from the sea is the hotel “Marseille”. The four-storey building of the hotel is located in the shade of tall trees. Location and history

Being the first Black Sea resort in Russia, Gelendzhik is considered one of the most popular destinations for summer holidays. The first sanatorium here was opened more than 120 years ago. Much has changed since then, but the famous southern hospitality and mild maritime climate continue to attract tourists not only in summer but also in winter. Gelendzhik Bay is closed from the wind by mountains. The water temperature in this area is usually a few degrees warmer compared to other Black Sea resorts.

Hotel Marseille is located opposite the Central Park of Culture and Leisure. The nearest beach is a short walk away and is not more than a 5-minute walk away. Nearby are the Central Park of Culture and Recreation and the Amusement Park “Olympus”. Several grocery stores and supermarkets can be found around. There is a public transport stop on the street opposite the hotel.

To get from the airport to the hotel, guests can order a taxi or transfer. The journey will take about 20 minutes. Guests who come to rest by train will need more time. The railway station is located in neighboring Novorossiysk. The hotel can be reached in an hour by car.

Room stock

The hotel offers 26 rooms. Each is equipped with air conditioning, a TV and a kettle. All rooms have a private bathroom with a shower. A bathrobe, towels, slippers and toiletries are provided free of charge.

Rooms are cleaned daily. Guests can arrange cleaning times and towel changes at the reception, which is open around the clock.

Richard: Great hotel. I was very pleasantly surprised for the two days I spent in this place. Cozy, clean, for its price offers an excellent level of service. The room has everything you need, breakfasts are hearty and delicious. Thank you to the owners and staff for the highest level of hospitality.

Hotel Marseille is considered one of the safest. The building is under round-the-clock security. Surveillance cameras are installed both outside in the parking lot and in common areas. In addition, all rooms are equipped with smoke detectors.

Hotel guests can choose from two options:

  • Standard room for 2 people. Vacationers can choose the option with one double bed or two single beds. In a room of 18-20 m² you can deliver an extra bed or playpen. The room has a refrigerator, individual safe, hairdryer. Rooms with and without balconies are available.
  • Junior Suite is more spacious than standard options and in addition to a double bed includes a sofa with a small dining area. Some rooms have balconies with city views.

Importantly! Check-in at the hotel is made at 14:00, while check-out is at 12:00. Accommodation in the hotel with animals is prohibited.

Toddlers under 5 years old stay free of charge. The cost of an extra bed for older children in March [y] is 1,200 rubles per night. The maximum number of extra beds depends on the room. Somewhere a crib may simply not fit. In any case, the hotel asks you to notify about the need for additional services in advance.

Note! Upon prior arrangement, a baby cot or high chair can be ordered in the room.

Food

Accommodation includes a complimentary breakfast served in the feather-floor café. Guests are offered cereals, hot dishes, pastries, fruits, pancakes and much more. Breakfast can be delivered to your room at an additional cost.

Note! Breakfast is served from 8.30 to 10.30.

Near the hotel there are several places where you can have lunch or dinner.

  • “Rice”, located 500 meters from the hotel, is part of a chain of restaurants, which is widely represented in the Krasnodar Territory. The menu includes Japanese dishes: sushi, deep-fried rolls, wok noodles. The restaurant has a children’s room. For young visitors, the chef of the network has developed a special menu.
  • The family restaurant “Maman” is located on the way from the hotel to the beach. It offers a variety of fish and meat dishes. Kebabs prepared according to the signature recipe are very popular. In the evening, live music is played in the café. On weekends, there are activities for children and their parents.
  • Restaurant “Platan” – the oldest institution of the city on the embankment. It offers dishes of European and Caucasian cuisine. The menu offers a wide selection of desserts and soft drinks of their own preparation. Every evening in the restaurant show program.

Beaches

Hotel “Marseille” is popular with tourists largely due to its location. The road to the beach takes about five minutes. It is enough to walk along Sovetskaya Street in the direction of the Central Embankment.

The coastline of Gelendzhik stretches for almost 100 km. Local beaches got their names from their locations. Some of them are under the supervision of hotels and sanatoriums. Some of them are “wild” – rocky and pebbly.

Central Beach

It occupies the territory from Lermontovsky Boulevard to Grinchenko Street. The total length is 1.5 km. In some places, the width of the beach reaches 80 meters. The recreation area is equipped with everything you need: showers, changing rooms, fountains with drinking water. There are restaurants, cafés and bars along the beach. Outdoor enthusiasts can go jet skiing or hang gliding. For children there are water slides and inflatable trampolines.

«Caucasus»

Not far from the hotel there is a beach of boarding house “Caucasus”. Entrance to the territory is free, but for sun loungers and umbrellas will have to pay. On the beach there is a boat station where you can rent catamarans, boats and pedal boats. Nearby there is a café “Safe Harbor”. The beach is surrounded by a pine forest.

«Gardens of the Seas»

On the edge of the Gelendzhik Bay near the lighthouse is the beach “Gardens of the Seas”. The water in this area is cleaner and the sea is calmer. On the beach there is a rental office, water activities are available. In 2010, a large-scale reconstruction took place here. The coastal strip was cleared of large stones and covered with small pebbles. Along the beach stretches a pine grove.

Leisure and entertainment

Many travelers come to Gelendzhik solely for the sake of diving. Here you can undergo training with subsequent certification or dive to support your qualifications. The cost of entertainment is much lower than in other resorts.

Experienced divers may be interested in places with sunken ships. Not far from Gelendzhik rest bomber “Boston A-20” and battleship “Free Russia”.

On the Central Embankment it is easy to find rental points of equipment for water activities, as well as rent a small pleasure yacht. In recent years, tourists are increasingly ordering excursion flights over the bay on amphibious aircraft.

Tourist complex “Olympus”, opened in 2005 on top of a mountain range, occupies a large area and is divided into several zones. In the lower part there is a planetarium, a paleontological museum, a crocodile farm, a petting zoo, an entertainment center with bowling and billiards. A concert hall is built on the slope. At the very top there are attractions for children and adults.

Recreational opportunities for children

As mentioned above, the hotel accepts guests of all ages, and for children under 5 years old stay free of charge. An extra bed for a child can be delivered to the room. At breakfasts, young travelers are offered an additional menu: a large number of healthy dishes from natural products and local fruits.

Gelendzhik is a resort town, which means that it will not be difficult to find children’s entertainment. For example, there are three water parks: “Dolphin”, “Hippopotamus” and “Golden Bay”. The latter is one of the largest on the Black Sea coast. The collection of water activities is estimated at 69 descents, 49 slides, 17 pools and 10 water attractions. The park covers an area of just over 15 hectares. Special attention is paid to young visitors here. Every day there is animation, entertainment events are held.

Gelendzhik Dolphinarium was opened in the 90s of the last century in order to preserve and study marine life. Today, it employs the best trainers, veterinarians and researchers. The dolphinarium is open all year round. Performances are held three times a week. After the show, you can take a photo with dolphins.

Note! Children under 5 years old can visit the Gelendzhik Dolphinarium free of charge.

A visit to the Safari Park can take a whole day, as it occupies a large area on the slopes of the Markotha Range. The park is conditionally divided into two parts: the Lower, where there are enclosures with animals, and the Upper with the terrarium and Jurassic Park. You can get from one part of the park to another by cable car. The lower station is located near the enclosure with a polar bear. The park offers educational excursions for children of different ages. It will be interesting for preschoolers and teenagers.

Note! The cable car route to the top of the Markotha Range passes over the Safari Park and takes 20 minutes. From the top there is a wonderful view of the bay and the city.

Excursions and attractions

In the vicinity of Gelendzhik, several archaeological sites have been preserved. Not far from the Mikhailovsky Pass and the village of Pshada there are ancient dolmens – funerary structures of the megalithic era. In Arkhipo-Osipovka, you can visit the ruins of the Roman tower, which once served as both a defensive structure and a lighthouse. Near the river Jane preserved Adyghe burial mounds.

The cities of the Krasnodar Territory are famous for their natural attractions, and Gelendzhik is no exception. The list of places to visit during the summer holidays should definitely include the parus rock, Plesetsky and Gebius waterfalls, juniper grove in Kabardinka and Dzhankhotsky forest.

Tourists who do not imagine a vacation without visiting museums can go to the Gelendzhik Historical and Cultural Museum, the Open-Air Museum “Battery No. 394 of Captain A. E. Zubkov”, the House-Museum of V. G. Korolenko or the Museum of Cosmonautics. For lovers of unusual collections, there are the Museum of Bread and Wine in Arkhipo-Osipovka, the Eco-Museum “White Horse”, the Museum of the Winery of the Agro-Industrial Complex “Gelendzhik”.
