Hotel Wawelberg in St. Petersburg

In St. Petersburg, a unique hotel was opened – a five-star premium boutique hotel Wawelberg with its own theater and banquet halls.

 

 

History

In early April [y], the technical opening of the hotel took place. Since mid-April, the “house with mascarons” began to receive its first guests. A new chapter in the history of the legendary building of St. Petersburg has begun.

The location of the hotel rooms in the arms of the architectural masterpiece of the Italian Neo-Renaissan near the Palace Square, the Hermitage, the Admiralty and the Neva embankment offers a unique opportunity to get in touch with the historical grandeur and beauty of the northern capital.

The project of the building was created by architect Marian Peretyatkovich for banker Mikhail Wawelberg, a representative of a famous Polish family of bankers.

The project was implemented in 1911-1912.

Initially, the house housed the apartment of the owner of the building, the Russian branch of a large commercial bank and premises for rent. A few decades later, the office of the satyricon magazine, the Aurora publishing house, the Central Air Communications Agency and the Aeroflot ticket office, the Berezka currency store, the Leningrad State Institute for Urban Design settled here.

The reconstruction of a unique object of cultural heritage, one of the city symbols, was 10 years.

In a modern interpretation of the American classics, the interior design of the hotel has been developed. Glass concrete structures are ideally combined with an oak fireplace, marble baths, decorative elements of onyx.

Hotel Wawelberg has 79 rooms. All rooms are divided into categories: historical, suite and deluxe.
Unique historical rooms, the interiors of which were restored by high-class masters, restorers, allow you to feel the spirit of history, carefully touch its past.

Suites on the sixth floor have their own access to open panoramic terraces with a gorgeous view of the historic center of the city and its main attractions.

Here you can admire the unique white nights, meet the sunrises and see off the sunsets that drive you crazy, watch the slowly floating clouds over the Hermitage.

Public spaces and restaurants

A special flavor of the hotel is given by its magnificent halls:

1. Banquet hall Wawelberg Hall.

This elegant arts center with gold leaf-covered columns and wrought iron lamps, with coffered ceilings is the former operating room of a trading bank. Designed for theatrical performances, weddings, photo shoots and other solemn events.

2. Birch cabinet.

The hall overlooking Malaya Morskaya Street, with a soundproof coating is equipped with modern equipment for business meetings or family celebrations.

3. Restaurant Atrio.

The bright, airy hall of the restaurant with a modern multimedia projection system is located in the courtyard under glass vaults and is combined with the hotel gallery. Suitable for chamber celebrations and master classes in culinary art.
