Location and history

Hotel “Intourist” appeared in Krasnodar in 1977. In November 2019, the rights to the hotel building were acquired by the international network InterContinental Hotels Group and the old Intourist closed for major repairs. After a large-scale renovation in Krasnodar opened a new hotel Crowne Plaza Krasnodar – Centre. The international hotel operator not only changed the interior and rebranded with the introduction of new principles of work, but also modernized the engineering and security systems of the former Intourist.

International hotelier InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) was founded in 2003 with a central headquarters in the UK. Under the management of an international hotelier there are more than 6 thousand hotels in more than a hundred countries of the world. In Russia, the hotelier is represented in six regions, where 21 hotels are located. Crowne Plaza Krasnodar-Centre is aimed at business tourists, and the entire network provides guests with an excellent loyalty program. For accommodation in the hotels of the network, guests are awarded points, which can be saved and exchanged for additional privileges, purchases from the hotelier’s partners, free nights and much more. The motto of the Crowne Plaza brand within the international network of IHG sounds like “Making Business Work” – “The standard of successful business trips”.

I remember this hotel since the days of Prohibition. There was a very nice atmosphere, interesting cuisine. The rooms are cozy and cool in summer. We returned to the hotel after the update and did not recognize the place once visited. Of course, it has become much richer, cleaner and more fashionable. The restaurant is beautiful: high ceilings, lots of air, beautiful furniture and delicious food. I didn’t want to leave the hotel. We will certainly come here again.

We came to the Krasnodar Territory on a honeymoon. We stayed in the suite for a couple of days to see the city. It could be done right out of the window! Stunning view, great setting, everything new and clean. The pool is open until 11pm and I love swimming. Breakfast in the restaurant is very diverse – a large selection of cereals, cheesecakes, pastries. I liked that the staff takes into account the interests of both vegetarians and meat eaters. The hotel has an unambiguous solid five.

Military Cathedral of the Holy Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky

Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky has long been considered the patron and defender of the army. That is why the servicemen who collected money for the construction of the temple, offered to consecrate it with the name of this saint. The temple was opened to believers in 1872. During the Soviets, the temple was turned into a museum of atheism, having previously looted the ornate cathedral. At the beginning of the 21st century, the beautiful temple was restored almost in its original form. The cathedral is built in the shape of a cross in the Byzantine style, with five domes symbolizing Jesus Christ and the four evangelical apostles. The façade is decorated with stucco and rosettes in the Gothic style. The building is built in the Byzantine style and has the shape of a cross. Krasnodar Regional Art Museum named after Kovalenko

The regional museum is named after its founder, collector Fyodor Kovalenko. The museum first opened its doors in 1904. During the Soviet era, the museum was named after Lunacharsky, and after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the original name was returned. The founder of the museum was a simple peasant, like his parents. To become a collector and collector he was helped by a love for the beautiful, which determined his future fate. Saving on everything, Fedor bought paintings by domestic and foreign masters, engravings and other works of art. At the same time, the collector began correspondence with artists from St. Petersburg and some European countries. Fyodor Kovalenko managed to start the museum, but even after his death, the expositions were replenished with new exhibits. In wartime, the museum was evacuated in strict secrecy in order to preserve and increase the unique collection. Today, the museum’s expositions include more than 13 thousand exhibits, including paintings, samples of Japanese woodcuts, Russian avant-garde art and a collection of bookplates. And the main meeting is located in a beautiful white and blue building of the late XIX century.
