For tourists, Vietnamese resorts are becoming an increasingly popular destination. Phan Thiet is one of these popular beach holiday destinations. In the port city and its environs, guests from different countries are received by over 800 hotels of different categories. In the tourist season, the population of Phan Thiet, which usually numbers about 335 thousand people, increases by 1.5-2 times.
Why is the Vietnamese resort interesting for tourists?
Phan Thiet is located in the south of the country in the tropical savanna climate zone, 203 km east of the center of Ho Chi Minh City, 1500 km south of Hanoi and 225 km from Nha Trang – the most famous Vietnamese resort. The city and its surroundings attract tourists with a variety of objects for recreation, health promotion and excursions to historical sites:
- A 30-kilometer strip of clean beaches covered with soft sand of white or light yellow color;
- Vinyahao – a large thermal complex with healing hot springs;

- a lake near the shores of which lotuses grow;
- historical and sacred objects: the statue of the Reclining Buddha (length – 49 m), the Cham Towers, erected by the ancient people in the VIII-XIX centuries, and many others;
- striking with the fabulous beauty of the Red Canyon, stretching near the resort.
Phan Thiet has long been a place where fans of surfing and other entertainment on the water seek to get. The most favorable time to visit the resort is from November to April. During this period, the least precipitation falls – from 1 to 58 mm per month. For comparison – from May to October – from 136 to 192 mm. The daytime air temperature in the dry season is from + 24.8 to + 31.9, water from + 25.4 to + 28.5.

Sonata Resort & Spa
In December 2015, the four-star Sonata Hotel opened its doors in the resort area of Phan Thiet. The main advantage of Sonata Resort & Spa is the location on the territory of a grove of coconut palms in a quiet place next to a long sandy beach. Sonata is located 45 km southwest of the center of Phan Thiet.
The hotel complex has 57 spacious deluxe rooms (33-66 sq. m.), 6 villas (229 sq. m.) and 2 bungalows (250 and 363 sq. m.). All rooms have wooden furniture. The rooms are decorated in light colours. Villas and bungalows have compact balconies. Some rooms have a separate guest area and kitchen.
“Sonata” is ideal for relaxing with a small group of friends or close relatives. Young couples will also appreciate the advantages of a hotel surrounded by a green area, on which there are facilities that guarantee a varied pastime for guests:
- tennis court, illuminated in the evenings;
- compact fitness room with several exercise machines;
- a small spa;
- rooms for playing table tennis and billiards;
- children’s club with two low slides;
- green relaxation area with a long rectangular swimming pool.
Guests can enjoy Vietnamese dishes at Sen Restaurant. The Splash Bar, located by the outdoor pool, offers a wide range of drinks and signature cocktails. Several popular services are available for hotel guests:
- transfer by comfortable cars from the airport or railway station and back;
- booking excursions to Phan Thiet and the surrounding area of the city;

Bernadette Gouchel, Montreal, Canada. Sonata is, without exaggeration, a paradise for lovers of silence. Our family β husband, me, my mother and father β spent a whole week here. Clean beach very close. Around are tall coconut palms. The pool is just perfect β big and clean. Wide paths covered with beautiful hard tiles run through the hotel. There are signs everywhere. With their help, it is easy to find the way to the beach, gym or other points on the territory of the hotel. I would like to note the professional work of the staff. The only drawback is that most employees do not speak English well and do not understand a word in French, my native language. However, the politeness of the staff, smiles and timely assistance – all this compensates for a small drawback.
Green Organic Villas
About 1.3 km north of the hotel “Sonata” is a four-star complex of seven villas, located on a green territory of a tropical garden. Green Organic Villas is a great option for city dwellers who want to escape from the hustle and bustle and plunge into an atmosphere of serenity and tranquility.
Each villa is equipped with a small swimming pool. The space of the bright rooms is expanded thanks to the high French windows. On the territory of the hotel complex for vacationers are available several objects that guarantee a variety of interesting leisure:
- kitesurfing club and school; the cost of one lesson β 50 $;
- two outdoor swimming pools: for adult guests and young tourists;
- a library where books are available in five languages: German, Serbian, French, Russian and English;
- a summer cinema, which in the evenings shows popular films from Europe and the United States.
For hotel guests, a paid transfer from the airports of Ho Chi Minh City ($ 120) and Nha Trang ($ 140) is organized. Vacationers can rent motorbikes and bicycles to explore the surrounding area. A sandy strip of a wide beach is located next to the hotel grounds. For guests there is a Farm House – a restaurant serving Mediterranean, Asian, Italian and French dishes, which are prepared from the products of local farms.
Vyacheslav Subbotin, St. Petersburg. The first time was with two friends in this region of Vietnam. Hotel “Green Organic Villas” was chosen for two reasons: here you can go kitesurfing and relax in silence away from the cities. The staff is awesome. Employees are always smiling, fulfill any requests, help to choose beautiful places where you can go on a motorcycle. A big plus is that next to each villa there is a swimming pool. The food in the restaurant is always varied, which, to be honest, is rare for Vietnam, judging by the hotels where we have stayed before. In general, the hotel is recommended to anyone who loves tranquility, tropical nature and entertainment on the water.
Golden Coast Resort & Spa
“Gold Coast” – this is the name of the four-star hotel complex located 8.6 km north of Green Organic Villas and 7 km south of Phan Thiet Bus Station. The hotel offers accommodation in 65 luxury rooms (42-45 sq. m.), 14 bungalows (48 sq. m.) and one family villa (120 sq. m.). The interior of the rooms is dominated by yellow, cream and orange tones. These colors are organically associated with the name of the hotel.
Golden Coast is suitable for tourists who dream of a few days of quiet pastime. Sunbathers on the sandy beaches will also be satisfied with their stay at the hotel. On the spacious territory of the hotel, tourists will find a wide range of opportunities for interesting leisure:
- a green seating area in the garden, where coconut palms and tropical flowers grow;
- a spa with several massage rooms;
- spacious gym;
- disco bar, where themed parties are held;
- billiards room;
- outdoor swimming pool in the shape of the number eight with a separate section for children, where one water slide is installed.
Vietnamese and Western European dishes are served in the hotel restaurant, which includes two halls – indoor and on the terrace – with a total capacity of up to 500 people. For business people, the services of a well-equipped conference center are available. Its halls can accommodate from 22 to 300 people. The hotel offers a chargeable shuttle service to and from Phan Thiet. The cost is from 10 US dollars.
Champa Resort & Spa
One of the most attractive places for those who are looking for opportunities for recreation among tropical nature, in silence and near the sea coast, is located 240 meters north of the Golden Coast Hotel. Here are the “possessions” of the four-star hotel Champa. For vacationers there are 38 deluxe rooms (40 sq. m.), one family villa (150 sq. m.) and 11 bungalows (48-52 sq. m.). The hotel offers a wide range of active and relaxing activities:
- rejuvenating treatments and massages in a small spa;
- swimming in two swimming pools: children’s and adult; the depth of the first β 0.4 m, the second β 1.4 m;
- water activities available at Tien Thanh, the beach next to the hotel: canoeing, paragliding, kayaking, water skiing;
- training and physical exercises on shells in the gym;
- a game of American billiards in a specially equipped room;
- relaxing in the green area with sun umbrellas, sun loungers and swings.
Asian, European and Vietnamese dishes are served at the hotel’s restaurant. Bright spacious hall of the gastronomic establishment is designed for 150 guests. The lobby bar offers a wide range of original cocktails. For business meetings, negotiations and seminars, the services of a conference hall can accommodate up to 350 people are available.
Phan Thiet Ocean Dunes Resort
Many tourists dream of a quiet beach holiday in the comfortable conditions of city life. For this category of lovers of seaside resorts, Ocean Dunes is suitable – a four-star hotel located near the central quarters of Phan Thiet and only 190 meters from the sea. Guests are offered accommodation and rest in 123 rooms of three categories (20-40 sq. m.).
The modern six-storey building of the hotel resembles a cruise liner, especially in the evenings, when the bright lights turn on. A wide beach, evenly covered with light yellow sand, is located next to the hotel. Just north of Ocean Dunes is Rainbow Park. In order for the rest of the guests to be full of interesting activities, the hotel is equipped with several leisure facilities:
- outdoor swimming pool with fenced area for children;
- tropical garden with sun loungers, gazebos and sun umbrellas;
- fitness room with modern fitness equipment;
- a small library;
- picnic area;
- two tennis courts;
- spacious children’s playground with slides, swings and simple attractions.
The menu of the Sea Horse restaurant (in Russian – “Seahorse”) includes dishes prepared according to the recipes of various Asian and European cuisines, including Vietnamese. For lovers of cocktails and a game of American billiards, there is a bar with a funny name Bar A Cuda.
Macaire Delaunay, Rouen, France. My wife and I have only pleasant memories of the Ocean Dunes Hotel. Spacious, bright room. Beautiful green garden. Friendly employees, very attentive to customer requests. A clean beach is located a few steps from the hotel. The waiters in the restaurant are smiling. The city’s attractions can be reached on foot. Near the hotel there are many cafes where we enjoyed trying local dishes. Next time, if we rest in Phan Thiet, we will stay again at Ocean Dunes.
TTC Hotel Phan Thiet
Just 650 m southwest of Ocean Dunes rises a modern fifteen-story hotel building belonging to the TTC network. The four-star hotel offers tourists a choice of 149 rooms of eight categories (29-200 sq. m.). A highway separates the hotel from Doi Duong Park and the beach of the same name. Hotel TTC is a great option for lovers of comfort and business people.
The interior design of the spacious rooms of the hotel is made in light colors. On the territory of the hotel there are objects that can satisfy the most diverse needs of vacationers and business people:
- 4 conference rooms;
- a spacious outdoor swimming pool with a small area for minor guests;
- a spa with restorative massage services;
- a tropical garden, the decoration of which was a fountain in the form of a teapot;
- tennis court;
- gym, from where you can clearly see the green area of the hotel and the swimming pool.
For guests there is a restaurant Oriental, the menu of which includes oriental dishes, which corresponds to the name of the gastronomic institution. The lounge bar offers a wide range of juices, soft drinks and alcoholic cocktails. Here, on the ground floor, live piano music sounds in the evenings. For hotel guests there is an inventory that allows you to devote your free time to active activities:
- snorkeling;
- deep-sea fishing;
- diving;
- cycling;
- windsurfing.
Orchid Boutique Beach Resort
About 1.2 km north of hotel Champa is a compact three-star hotel complex, the name of which translates as “Orchid”. This place gives an excellent opportunity for tourists to spend a few days of vacation in a quiet environment typical of the countryside. On the small territory of Orchid, positioning itself as a boutique hotel, there is a main two-story building and several bungalows.
Guests can choose from 24 rooms. The total area of each of them is from 25 to 45 square meters. m. Leisure of hotel guests is filled with active activities:
- yoga on a specially equipped site;
- relaxed rest in a small garden;
- a game of billiards;
- massages and beauty treatments at the spa;
- cycling through a nearby rainforest;
- swimming and swimming in a small outdoor pool;
- entertainment and sunbathing on the private beach next to the hotel.
The restaurant’s menu, designed in traditional Vietnamese motifs, includes local dishes. Guests highly appreciate the professional work of Mrs. Lana – the owner of the hotel – and all the staff.
Casa Beach Resort
In 2017, after a three-year reconstruction, the four-star hotel “Kasa”, located 300 meters north of the Sonata Hotel, opened its doors. The name, which can be translated from Spanish as “home”, is quite consistent with the concept and design of the institution. Casa is a complex that includes one bamboo cottage (45 sq. m.) and seven wooden villas (40-250 sq. m.).
The hotel staff does everything that helps tourists feel comfortable, calm and peaceful. There is no noisy entertainment or crowds of loud-speaking tourists. The courtyard is surrounded by coconut palms and features a compact swimming pool. There are also several hammocks for lovers of afternoon rest and meditation. In cozy huts, experienced craftsmen offer to enjoy a relaxing massage.
A light breakfast is served in the hotel’s villas and bungalows. For vacationers there is a restaurant, more like a spacious terrace under a wooden roof. The menu offers several sets of Vietnamese dishes. Drinks and cocktails can be enjoyed at Jico, a small bar inside the restaurant room.
Which hotel is the best?
If we compare the set of services, inventory and pieces of furniture, as well as the quality of service, the hotels presented here are not much different from each other. However, the hotel “Sonata” manages to offer tourists almost everything that makes their rest as diverse as possible, ranging from a sandy beach and active entertainment to a wide selection of villas, rooms and bungalows. Compared to Sonata Resort & Spa, in other hotels vacationers will feel that they are missing something.
