Marmolada – hotels in the ski resort of Italy

Marmolada includes the area from Punta Singing to Punta Serauta. In the south, the mountains abruptly break off to the valley of Ombrett, and in the north they descend quite gently. It is here that the Marmolada glacier is located.

According to legend, once on Marmalade there were lush meadows. One Christmas day, two peasants decided not to celebrate the holiday. Then there was heavy snow, which did not stop for a long time. From that moment Marmolada became a glacier.

Marmolada is the highest mountain of the Dolomites, which is why it is called the “Queen of the Dolomites”. There are several hiking trails and cycling trails around the mountain. Another popular hike is the route from Malga Chapel to Alba di Canazeia, which runs along the foot of Marmalada.

Marmalade even has a funicular. In addition, there is a mountain military museum at the funicular station. This museum tells about the role of Marmalade in the First World War, and claims to be the highest museum in all of Europe.
