Kolasin is a town in the north of Montenegro,founded by the Turks in the 17th century. Along it flow the restless rivers Tara and Moraca, surrounded by the mountains of Sinyaevina and Belasitsa.
Kolasin is located at an altitude of 954 m above sea level and offers an excellent holiday in both winter and summer. Due to its natural location, Kolasin is a paradise for winter tourism. Here, conditions for winter sports are constantly being created and improved. There are three ski clubs in Kolasin, known for high quality service, good funicular and lifts that take skiers to a height of 1950 meters above sea level.
The slopes of Belasitsa are on the north side, so the snow lasts a long time. Some ski slopes meet FIS standards, which means that they are fully ready for competitions of the highest level. In some places, the slope of the tracks exceeds 60 degrees, which makes them extreme. The slopes are perfectly prepared, they host a traditional ski festival, which attracts tourists. Ski and snowboard school, as well as the Alpine rescue service, ambulance and many other services operate in the ski center.
The length of the main slope is more than 4 kilometers. It is unusually wide and ready to accept several thousand skiers at once. The first skiers, according to tradition, open the season at the end of December, that is, on New Year’s holidays.
Not far from Kolasin there are rivers rich in trout, so the town attracts fishermen and hunters. In the city itself there is a hunting and fishing association. Residents of Kolasin and their guests choose the shores of the lake for picnics, especially Biogradsko or some of the Pesicki Lakes on Belasitsa.
For a more active holiday, every resident of Kolasin will recommend rafting on the Tara River to the tourist. In the spring, Tara is especially fierce, so the river is so attractive to adrenaline lovers. In Kolasin there are several outdoor sports grounds. Not far from the city center is also a football stadium.
