Czech Republic, Prague. Golf 4* hotel review

Our first trip to Europe. Visiting Prague has been a long-held dream. And it came to fruition in April 2013.

In choosing a hotel we were helped by a travel agency. For us, the inexpensive cost of living, cleanliness in the room and the ability to quickly get from the hotel to the city center were important. Hotel Golf 4 Prague met all our wishes.

Infrastructure and rooms

The journey from Václav Havel Airport to the hotel took approximately 30 minutes. We arrived at about 11 a.m. The keys to the room were given to us immediately. Although we were prepared for the fact that we would have to wait until 14:00. This is the official check-in time.

The hotel consists of several buildings. We lived in Building D. It’s a detached building. The exterior of the hotel was not very impressive. We had a standard room paid for. It suited us quite well at first sight. Small room with two beds. Clean and cozy. Bed linen is snow-white. It was still pretty cool. In this case, the room has an electric battery. Only a few times before going to bed turned on. There was no more need. We were especially pleased with the view. It felt like we were in the woods. And in the mornings we enjoyed the birdsong.

We didn’t have a kettle in the room. In the common hall, where there was a sofa and several tables, there was a cooler with cold and hot water. A kind of common rest room. The big disadvantage for us was that there were constantly smoking builders performing work in the hotel. And all the cigarette smoke hit our room. Walls, sofas, carpet were soaked in cigarette smoke. And you could smell it all the time. How many times we didn’t complain to reception receptionistres, nothing helped. Construction workers continued to smoke. The hotel limited itself to a sign “no smoking”.

The furniture in the room is not new. But everything is in good condition. Paintings hang on the wall, creating additional comfort. The TV is broadcast on various channels. The mirror is only in the bathroom and not full-length. There is also a shower cabin. All standard shower accessories are available. There is a hair dryer and an electric heated towel rail. Daily maid service.

Food

Breakfast is included in the room rate. And they were one of the significant advantages of the hotel. Very varied and hearty menu. There was always some soup. I especially liked the onion. Large selection of vegetables and fruits. The most diverse pastries. Cheese and sausage cuts. And insanely delicious sausages. Juices are not natural. Coffee machine with the possibility of preparing several types of coffee. Cold and hot milk. Several types of tea to choose from. Even coming to breakfast late, it never felt like you were getting leftover food. Everything is always enough. After having such a hearty breakfast, we went to explore the delightful Prague. And the feeling of hunger began to visit us only in the late afternoon.

Once we had lunch at the hotel. For a very reasonable price, we ate very satisfyingly and deliciously. You can order something like a set lunch. Each day of the week has its own menu.

Off-site

There are no shops, cafés or restaurants near the hotel. If you walk a little to the right of the hotel, you can see the road leading to the golf courses. For the sake of interest, we went for a walk. Spring. Mowed lawns. Silence. Birdsong. Lovely place to relax. We even saw a few people playing golf.

On the other side of the hotel is a campsite. Especially on weekends, a lot of cars come. Apparently, the locals spend time in nature. While the children walk, parents fry kebabs.

Next to the hotel there is a tram stop “Hotel Golf”. Trams move strictly according to the schedule with an interval of 2-3 minutes. In the evening, the interval increases to 20 minutes. The speed of the tram is quite high. The road to the city center takes about 15-20 minutes. It’s very fast and convenient. Buying a ticket for 30 minutes, we just managed to get to the place from which we had already started our journey around Prague.

Hotel “Golf” fully justifies its 4 stars. We were very pleased with our stay. Since it is located far from the city center, its cost is much lower than similar hotels located closer to historical sights. But the excellent work of public transport allows you to completely forget about distances. In addition, the distance from the bustle of the city and a large number of tourists, allows hotel guests to have a good rest after a long, but undoubtedly fascinating walk around Prague. And gain strength to explore new pages of the city.

Services

The reception is located in the main building of the hotel. Here you can always exchange currency, buy tram tickets, souvenirs and carbonated drinks. Next to the reception desk is an interesting information panel. Choosing the necessary language, you can read basic information on all the main attractions of Prague. And also, what was very useful, free print out detailed instructions on how to get to a particular attraction from the hotel “Golf”. A card obtained from the dashboard can be used as a navigator. It indicates which tram you need to take, which stop to get to, where to go and how long it will take.

Also in the lobby there are tables and chairs, pleasant music sounds. This is a place where you can just relax after long walks around the city.

In the main building, next to the reception, there are several computers with Internet access. You can use it at any time and for free.
