Jungle Beach Ahungalla
A complex of cozy huts and tents is located in Ahungalla. The place has recently begun to develop as a resort, so all the hotels are new, clean and modern. Jungle Beach Ahungalla provides conditions for relaxation, meditation and active recreation. It offers a place for yoga classes, a beach volleyball court, fishing, spa treatments and professional massages. Luxury bungalows can accommodate from 1 to 6 people. Back of Beyond – Pidurangala
The lodge is next to the rocky Sigiriya Plateau, which is a natural attraction in Sri Lanka. The camp occupies 4 acres in the middle of a virgin forest. Locals call it Bird Park. Guests can take a walk or horseback ride to explore the 5th-century Sigiriya World Heritage Site and the Pidurangala Rock, on which the ancient monastery is built. Koragaha Lodge – Yala
15 minutes from Yala National Park is Koragaha Lodge. There are 4 chalets in the rooms. Each has a large bedroom with air conditioning, a private bathroom, a large veranda. The hosts made sure that guests relaxed in an atmosphere as close to the village as possible. Therefore, the design of each house is peculiar. There is also a barbecue area in the garden. The lodge has a chef who has experience in preparing Sri Lankan dishes, as well as a wide selection of Western dishes. The owners grow vegetables and fruits on site. Guests are advised to go out to these areas and choose their own vegetables, which will be prepared for lunch or dinner. In the yard there is a counter with bicycles that can be rented. Just 100 metres from the hotel is the road leading to Situlpawwa Temple. The lodge organises guided jeep safaris.
The Rainforest Ecolodge – Sinharaja
The lodge resembles eco-hotels in Europe. It is built in the Sinharaja Rainforest. This is a protected area included in the list of protected natural sites of UNESCO. The Enselvatte estate, on the territory of which tourist houses are installed, is managed by Maturata Plantations Limited. This area has a constant humid climate and is located approximately at an altitude of 900 – 1000 meters above sea level. It is here that the famous tea plantations are located. There are 16 chalets designed according to the concept of ecotourism. The houses are equipped with a bedroom, a living room, a bathroom, a terrace. The interior is decorated with bamboo. The restaurant has a team of culinary experts. Fruits and vegetables are brought daily from a nearby village, meat is supplied twice a week from Galle. All houses stand on stilts, connected to the restaurant and viewing platforms by metal passages. This is done in order to preserve nature as much as possible.
Macushla Sanctuary
On another stretch of the Sinzaraja Forest is the Makushla Sanctuary Lodge. The boutique villa is built against the backdrop of Adam’s Peak and the Seven Virgin Mountains. The comfortable rooms offer views of the endless tea plantations growing on the gentle slopes. Artists like to come here. A spacious panoramic studio has been built for them. Each bedroom has stone walls, natural teak furniture, plush four-poster beds and crisp Egyptian white cotton sheets. The apartment provides rooms featuring a desk, a wardrobe, a suitcase rack and a minibar. The modern indoor bath serves natural spring water for baths and showers. At the restaurant island dishes are served. Each of them is selected a variety of wine, which is served free of charge. For hiking, stone paths are laid along the tea plantations and the waterfall. Stunningly beautiful villa, decorated in colonial style. It is built in the middle of a private coconut plantation. The fruits are used in the preparation of food and massage oil. By the way, guests can use environmentally friendly equipment and squeeze coconut oil with their own hands. The house has 2 panoramic rooms of Suite category. Each has its own entrance, its own outdoor terrace, its own descent into the communal pool. The far pavilion consists of two bedrooms. When choosing a hotel, it is worth considering the weather and climatic conditions of Sri Lanka. From May to early September there is dry weather, from September to December – the rainy season. Short-term monsoons last for a month from March to April. If you are interested in wildlife, it is better to spend the months from February to October in lodges in the middle of the rainforest. If you want to relax on the coast, then May – September will be the best time for a trip.
