Las Galeras was quieter than the last time we came.
Las Galeras was quieter than the last time we came. We had lunch and dinner at L'aventura de john and the good food is always there. we had our own vehicle, so it was easy to move around even if the main road is temporarily in bad shape due to some work. The best with our 3 teenagers was to spend the day at the beach

Si quiet and so quaint , restaurants are so family oriented the food and the area surrounding el pelicano is like living in a fairy tale, loved it , I’m definitely going back again on my next trip to the Dominican Republic
Beautiful (almost wild) beaches, amazing plants/ nature, tranquility, no crowd, great food. You'll find plenty of attractions: El Limon waterfall, horse riding, Boca del Diablo, el Ricon beach and lagoon, boat trips, real Dominican households, Rio Frio, marble mines and much more. What I would do better next time - I would avoid the east part of DR (Punta Cana, Boca Chica, La Romana, Santo Domingo etc) and hit directly to Samana.

Las Galeras can be a base camp for visiting a lot a wonderful beaches located near the place, like Fronton and Playa Madama, the ones we visited. As we didn't have more time, we couldn't visit other beaches that exist between Las Galeras and Playa Rincon. I recommend going there with enough time to explore. Do not Miss Restaurant El Cabito, where Tomeu will be able to enchant you with wonderful conversation and better food!

Due to the COVID -19 virus majority of shops and bars remained closed. Although the Dominican Republic has opened up for tourism this area financially appears to have been hit hard economically. Having been in this area many times before it was a shame to see the the situation for the local population who rely heavily on the tourist industry. Our stay was short but thoroughly enjoyable. getting to Las Galeras is fairly straight forward though entail a long car journey from the Capital. The roads are mainly good though if you have not driven in the DR before then it can be a bit daunting if you hire a car. Rules of the road don't really exist to an extent so be careful. There are plenty of sites to see some fabulous beaches and Rios, Sea fishing, horse back riding ATV tours, Zip lines and many other outdoor activities are available. Wherever possible i would advise shopping around for the best deal, if not a Spanish speaker get to know a local and tap into them for information they are more than willing to help for the cost of a few peso's

This is what the Caribbean probably looked like 40 years ago! Amazing nature, cocoa plantations, not so easy to get to beaches, get an RAV4 or similar, this will spare you the aggravation of not being able to get down a muddy road to an off the charts beach!!! Pan de Coco available by the side of the road, for the uninitiated, thats a flat round bread made with coconut water, instead of regular water...Superb snack, breakfast whatever...Drive, explore, hike, get out and see the place, you will not be disappointed.
Checkin was quick and easy. WiFi was reliable and fast. The view from the top floor rooms is incredible. Las Galeras is a hidden gem and this hotel is right on top of the beach, which never seemed to get crowded. Breakfast staff was polite and fast with service. The bathroom fixtures were modern and classy. The restaurants nearby were terrific and very close, recommend Bodeguita for dinner. AC was cold and the fan was powerful. Mosquito nets were great for the nights without using AC.
The hostess is amazing: thoughtful, understanding, and very friendly. I really felt like at home. The hospitality was just beyond words.
We had a light room with big windows and a lot of natural light. It's a spacious room so really comfortable even if you're staying with someone.
The vibe of the hotel is really chilled. You can enjoy a delicious breakfast, listen to relaxing musing, and converse with the hosts.
What a stay at the 21 palms! Francesco, Andrea, Luis and the entire staff were so attentive to all our questions and needs. Their cocktails and breakfast were delicious and the helped us arrange a couple of tours. The hotel is lovely, located near a beautiful beach in a quiet place. Las Galeras is not far away and can easily be reaches from the hotel. A great experience and would absolutely recommend it!
The house is spacious, well equipped.
In a quiet location - end of Las Galeras town.
Bed is quite comfortable.
Beautiful beaches around, nice hikes. And the hosts are very friendly.
There's a reasonably good WiFi too.
Been thinking between 9 and 10, but since we extended our stay by 2 weeks (cause we liked it there so much), I realized we basically already did rate 10.
had a wonderful stay in las galeras "yes papa!".
its close to the beach, comfortable, clean and the atmosphere is very relaxed.
also the french owners are really great: caring, friendly, helpful and they make my favourite sugar+butter crepes.
awesome. very big and bright room at the rooftop, very relaxing area. they have in the hotel ping pong and hammocks, we extend our stay, and will definitely return. also wifi was really good even for watching movies and talking via video calls.
the hotel is perfect ! really clean, the people working extremely nice and helpful in the organization of excursion and diner at the hotel. Plus you have a yoga class in the morning and exceptional spa in front of the beach with good price.
Simple and cool! Great hosts (Ron is an expert of Las Galeras and will build you a program to visit all the best of the area) very calm and peaceful, excellent breakfast, thank you so much Ron and the family.
Everything was perfect, literally 3min walk to the beach of Las Galeras, 3min the other way gets you to the main street with restaurants, bars and shops. Rooms are clean and breakfast is delicious and fresh.
The room was good size, modern and kept clean. Good housekeeping. The wi fi coverage was good throughout the resort.
The grounds and location is good and deserves a better hotel experience.
Super spacious place, with trees around and a nice swimming pool. Communication upon arrival was excellent, it was definitely one of the best hotels we stayed at during our trip.
by far the best hotel I’ve stayed in Dominican Republic. nice breakfast, friendly hosts and big rooms
ideally located too
I would come back without a doubt.
